Welcome to Customs Edge. By accessing or using our website and services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using Customs Edge ("the Service"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you may not use our Service.
2. Description of Service
Customs Edge provides:
- HS Code lookup and search functionality for Sri Lanka Customs
- Import duty and tax calculation tools
- AI-powered product classification assistance
- Preferential trade agreement rate information
- Shipment management and tax calculation features
- VDF (Value Declaration Form) creation and AsyCuda export tools
- Document scanning for invoice data extraction
2.1 Usage Limits
The Service includes various usage limits (such as daily search limits, monthly export limits, and document scanning limits) that apply to user accounts. These limits may change from time to time as the software system matures. Current limits are displayed within the application interface.
3. User Accounts
3.1 Registration
Some features of the Service require registration. When you register, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information
- Maintain the security of your password
- Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
3.2 Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in fraudulent or illegal activities.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service
- Use automated systems to access the Service without permission
- Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization
- Submit false or misleading information
5. Disclaimer of Warranties
Important: The information provided by Customs Edge is for general informational purposes only. While we strive to keep the information accurate and up-to-date, we make no representations or warranties of any kind about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, or suitability of the information.
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
- HS Code classifications are officially binding
- Tax calculations reflect current official rates
- The Service will meet your specific requirements
5.1 AsyCuda Export Documents
Notice: We do not take any responsibility for AsyCuda CusDec XML or VDF Excel documents working correctly or any errors contained therein. These export features are provided as convenience tools only. Users are responsible for verifying all exported data before submission to Sri Lanka Customs or any other authority.
6. Limitation of Liability
Customs Edge and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from:
- Your use or inability to use the Service
- Any errors in HS Code classifications or tax calculations
- Unauthorized access to your account
- Any third-party content or conduct
7. Professional Advice
The information provided by Customs Edge does not constitute professional customs, legal, or tax advice. For official classifications and rulings, please consult:
- Sri Lanka Customs
- Licensed customs brokers or declarants
- Qualified legal or tax professionals
8. Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality of the Service, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, and software, are owned by Customs Edge and protected by intellectual property laws.
9. Third-Party Services
Our Service may integrate with third-party services (such as Google Sign-In). Your use of such services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.
10. Document Scan Feature
The Document Scan feature allows you to upload PDF documents for automated data extraction. Please be aware of the following:
- No Document Storage: We do not keep any copies of PDF documents that you upload to Customs Edge. Data is extracted from your documents to update your dataset, and the original files are not retained.
- Digital Documents: Digital PDF documents (computer-generated PDFs) are processed using a Large Language Model (LLM) hosted locally on our servers. In this mode, your PDF is not transferred outside of our environment.
- Scanned Documents: Scanned documents (image-based PDFs) are processed using a third-party LLM service provided by Mistral AI, which adheres to European Data Security Standards. You may review their privacy policy at https://legal.mistral.ai/terms/privacy-policy.
Important: By using the Document Scan feature, you acknowledge and accept these data processing arrangements. If you have concerns about third-party processing, you may choose to use only digital (computer-generated) PDF documents.
11. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Sri Lanka, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
